WATCH - Educational Professionals develop plans for at risk
teens, related to preparedness with hands-on applications.
HEART
ATTACK RESCUE TRAINING (HART) -Teach CPR and First Aid to
all High School students with the theme that preparedness
begins at home.
INTERACT
WITH NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS AND COUNCIL OFFICES – Determine
educational needs of neighborhood groups by interacting with
Neighborhood Councils and Council Offices regarding
preparedness.
COMMUNITY
EDUCATION RESPONSE TEAM (CERT) Volunteers are trained to
help mitigate problems during the first 72 hours following a
disaster.
EXPAND
DEPARTMENT SPONSORED PROGRAMS - Facilitate and coordinate
additional explorer posts.
FIRE
INSTRUCTION RECRUITMENT EDUCATION (F.I.R.E.) PROGRAMS -
Increase interaction and programs at local high schools and
junior colleges.
COMMUNITY
EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM - CERT

Develops
appropriate volunteer response programs based on needs of
specific community.

Plans,
develops, supervises and schedules training and refresher
courses for all CERT programs.

Maintains
a database that identifies all training, certification and
recall information.

Issues
all I.D. Cards, uniforms and supplies.

Develops
liaison with the Volunteer Bureau in the Mayor’s Office.

Maintains
liaison with the Neighborhood Councils, City Council
Offices and other civic organizations to identify groups
and organizations capable of providing volunteer resources
in the event of an emergency.

Attends
various meetings and seminars to represent the Department.
